Term Assurance:

Term Assurance provides protection for a pre-specified term and is therefore particularly useful for covering a specific debt or period, for example your mortgage. Options are,

Level cover: Under this type of plan, the sum assured remains the same for the duration of the contract. This type of Term Assurance is most commonly used to protect an Interest Only mortgage where the level of debt remains the same throughout the mortgage term. Mortgage Protection / Decreasing cover: Under this plan the sum assured is specified at the outset of the contract and decreases throughout its term. This type of insurance is particularly suitable to protect a Repayment Mortgage where the mortgage debt reduces gradually over the term of the mortgage.

Critical Illness Cover (CIC): This can be set up as a ‘stand-alone’ policy or it can be incorporated into Term Assurance to provide you with a lump sum in the event that you’re diagnosed with a critical illness.

Family Income Benefit: Under this plan, on the death of the life assured, the insurer will pay out a series of regular annual payments until the end of the original term.

Permanent Health Insurance (PHI): This type of policy pays out a tax-free monthly benefit in the event that the policy holder is unable to work due to long-term illness or injury. PHI policies can be arranged to pay income until you return to work, or until you retire.

Mortgage Payment Protection Insurance (MPPI): Previously known as Accident, Sickness & Unemployment cover (or ASU), MPPI can be used to cover your mortgage outgoings if you’re unable to work due to illness, injury or involuntary employment. In such circumstances, a monthly benefit will be paid for a maximum of one year.
